LMS integration

Syncing Grades with an LMS: What It Solves, What It Presupposes

Syncing grades between an exam platform and an LMS removes re-entry, but presupposes a connector — LTI 1.3 Advantage or a proprietary API — actually implemented, authorised and tested on both sides. Educati provides no LTI connector: it avoids double entry differently, by keeping the exam session, grading, gradebook and report card in one platform, with AREF/MASSAR and CSV exports for third-party systems.

The real problem: the grade typed twice

When the exam runs in one tool and the gradebook lives elsewhere, every session ends with an export and a manual re-import. That is the leading source of drift between a student's official transcript and what they see in their portal — and the drift usually surfaces at the exam board.

Two ways to solve it, not one

The first is a connector. LTI 1.3 Advantage, through Assignment and Grade Services, writes a grade line back into the LMS. It presupposes tool registration, keys, granted scopes and end-to-end tests — and it exists only if the vendor has genuinely implemented and verified it on your LMS version.

The second is not to split the systems at all: if the exam session, grading, gradebook and report card share one database, there is nothing to synchronise.

The route Educati takes

Educati takes the second. A session is scheduled with its room, named seats and invigilators; entered marks feed the gradebook, report cards and transcripts directly, on the Moroccan /20 scale. For academic obligations the platform produces AREF and MASSAR exports; beyond that, CSV exports. No LTI connector is offered, and none is announced here.

What to ask a vendor promising sync

Which LTI services are implemented? On which LMS versions were they tested? What happens when a grade is edited afterwards, or a student is unenrolled? And above all: which system owns the data when the two gradebooks disagree?

Frequently asked questions

Does Educati sync grades with Moodle?
No. No LTI connector is offered. Grades live in Educati, with AREF/MASSAR and CSV exports for third-party systems.
How do you avoid double entry without a connector?
By keeping the exam, the grading and the report card in one platform: there is a single entry and a single reference figure.
